Some Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play Sorare?

To play and compete for prizes, all you need to do is enter a squad of 5 cards into the SO5 league competitions on Sorare. Each of your cards will receive a score every gameweek (incl. league, cup, and international games).

Player scores are calculated based on the player’s real-life performance during a match. Players get scores on Sorare that range from 0 to 100. On a player’s page, you will find the score of his players for the last 5 games their teams have played (both their clubs and international teams).

You can enter over 20 squads into over 20 different leagues, however, you would need 5 cards per squad. The different leagues required cards of different scarcity levels.

What prizes can be won with Sorare cards?

When you own 5 Sorare cards you can enter squads in over 25 weekly tournaments, where you get the chance to win great prizes (you require certain types of cards to enter certain competitions).

You can win new player cards in the weekly competitions. These player cards can then be sold to other users on the Sorare market sales exchange, or you can use these cards to win even more cards.

Is Sorare free to play?

All tournaments on Sorare are free to enter. To win the bigger prizes in leagues, you are required to own at least 5 limited cards, however.

Alternatively, you can play for free in the Rookie league. The Rookie league is the free community league that enables you to explore the game and build your first squad with ‘common cards’. When you join, you are given common cards for free.

In the Rookie League, you get the chance to win additional common cards, and limited cards (which can be used to win bigger prizes in other tournaments). The Rookie League is open for new players to compete in, for 8 weeks of play. The opportunity to enter the Rookie League with your squad will disappear after you have participated in it 8 times.

How many Sorare cards are there? What are the different types of Sorare cards?

Each season, up to 1111 cards are added for each player. This includes 1 unique card, 10 super rare cards, 100 rare cards, and 1000 limited cards. Because of the scarcity and low supply of certain cards, game managers are sometimes willing to pay more to buy some of the cards they desire to own.

Different types of Sorare cards allow you to enter different tournaments on Sorare.

What is player XP on Sorare? Ho do card levels work?

Player XP (experience) is something you can earn by competing in Sorare competitions. The more XP your players have, the more they more points they can earn in future competitions.

The XP of your players will help level up the card to a maximum of 20 card levels in the space of 3 years. XP and level progress is designed so that if you regularly use a card it should grow by 10 levels within the first season. It will then take two more seasons of regular use to reach another 10 levels.

What is Ethereum? And how do I buy Sorare cards?

Ethereum is the second biggest cryptocurrency in the world, after Bitcoin. Ethereum is often used by businesses to create NFTs (non-fungible tokens). NFTs are a way of storing and owning digital assets.

Sorare player cards are all NFTs and they are based on the Etheruem blockchain.

But what is the Ethereum blockchain? The Ethereum blockchain is a publicly accessible ledger system, where every Sorare transaction is stored securely, which means your ownership of the player cards is set in stone. Anyone can see every transaction on the blockchain which allows transparency. The Ethereum blockchain allows you to send and receive money much quicker than bitcoin at the moment.

You can use Ethereum to buy, sell your player cards, as well as to deposit and withdraw funds. Alternatively, you can use traditional currencies such as GBP, EUR, USD, and many more.

Who are the Sorare celebrity investors?

Sorare raised $680m to fund its NFT fantasy football game. Well-know football celebrity investors include Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, Chelsea’s César Azpilicueta and Barcelona’s Gerard Piqué.

Sorare, the Paris-based company’s latest investment, has been called one of Europe’s biggest ever Series B rounds, giving the blockchain digital collectibles and fantasy football platform a huge valuation of US$4.3 billion.
